Offer 14.8-cm, HD screens and are thinner and lighter than their respective predecessors.

Both have no microSD card slots, and feature 3000mAh non-removable batteries. With the belief that “bigger screens have now gone from a nice to have thing to a must have” Samsung stated that it has made it easier to operate the new 5.7-inch display smartphones with one hand. A new feature allows users to make notes directly on the phone screen, without having to power on or unlock the phone.

Another major announcement at the event was the introduction of Samsung’s own mobile payment system, called Samsung Pay.

The Samsung S6 Edge+ and Note 5 will be available in the U.S. and Canada on August 21. The Samsung Galaxy S6 also has same octacore Exynos processor.

It’s also feature heavy with “the most advanced camera” for high-quality photos and videos plus “Live Broadcast“, a feature which streams video straight from the camera across all multimedia devices through YouTube (aka built in Periscope).

Despite a rumor that Qualcomm would get a design win for its Snapdragon SoCs in at least one of these two phones, the Samsung Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge+ are both using Samsung application processors and Samsung LTE modems. The non-removable battery of the Note 5 is 3,000 mAh. The company has also added “App shortcut” for quick access.

Samsung announced two new mobile devices today, and both were to be expected.

In the firm’s most recent financial results, earnings across the company were down 8 per cent, but 38 per cent in the mobile division.

InJong Rhee, Samsung Electronics vice president, said that ‘NFC is fine technology but most stores don’t have it’.
