The first trailer released Wednesday for the film “Spotlight“, which follows the Boston Globe’s investigation into clergy sexual abuse in the Boston archdiocese in the early 2000s.

Keaton said in an interview that there are two stories which can be seen in the movie.

But they keep digging, with Robinson telling MacLeish, “You’re going to give me their names and the names of their victims”, adding that he’ll either write a story about the priests’ behavior or one about “a bunch of lawyers turning child abuse into a cottage industry”. “The West Wing” scribe Josh Singer co-wrote the film, which has already generated plenty of awards buzz. The coverage led the reporters to win the 2003 Pulitzer Prize for Public Service, and resulted in the resignation of Cardinal Bernard Law. When the newspaper’s tenacious “Spotlight” team of reporters delve into allegations of abuse in the Catholic Church, their year-long investigation uncovers a decades-long cover-up at the highest levels of Boston’s religious, legal, and government establishment, touching off a wave of revelations around the world.

According to Variety, the film will debut premiere at the Venice Film Festival, which runs September 2-12, and will also screen at the Toronto Film Festival later that month.
