According to the report, fisherman, Frank McFarland, was fishing in the waters of Nome in Alaska on July 4th, when he and his team spotted this rare species.

An official from Alaska Department of Fish and Game in Nome, Scott Kent, said in a talk “I have no idea why the red king crab is blue, though I guesses it is a mutation”.

Despite of everything, this rare blue crab had become a local celebrity, with people showing up to take photos with it.
