Sanam Re, a film with no story or script to back it and counting only on its musical score and hearty promotion (after all, it is a T-Series production), does not stir up excitement in the Valentine’s Day weekend as was expected. The film’s release clashed with Bollywood big flicks “Sanam Re” and “Fitoor” but fared nearly similar to them at the box office. With its opening weekend of Rs 21.2 crore, the film just about managed to stay afloat through rest of the week to collect Rs 33.1 crore in its first week. On the last day of weekend being Sunday and Valentine’s Day, Sanam Re showed decent rise in its business grahh and added 6.45 crores* to its account as third day collection. Since Sanam Re was made on a small budget, it is said that the film will make good profit after selling satellite rights. The second directorial venture of Divya Khosla Kumar, “Sanam re” stars Yami Gautam and Pulkit Samrat in lead roles.
Now that the eagerly-awaited film has opened to a dismal Box Office response, trade experts are looking at losses of approximately Rs 40 crores, and more. Total:? 14.11 cr. India biz.
Despite having A-list actors including Katrina Kaif and Aditya Roy Kapoor, “Fitoor” earned Rs. 3.61 cr on the first day.
Trade Analyst Taran Adarsh took to Twitter to share the box office collection of both the films.
