Those arrested include a 16-year-old boy and an 18-year-old man from Wentworthville, a 22-year-old man and a 24-year-old man from Merrylands, and a 22-year-old man from Marsfield.
On Friday, Farad Jabar, 15, shot dead police worker Curtis Cheng, 58, out the front of police headquarters in Parramatta.
“The five men have been taken into custody/detained and will taken to carious police stations were they will be interviewed in relation to Friday’s shooting”, the police statement said.
The raids were co-ordinated with the counterterrorism squad and homicide squad.
Prior to the recent arrests, police also detained a teenager who had reportedly posted a video on Facebook showing Police Commissioner Andrew Scipione breifing the public about the shooting.
Mr Cheng was executed as he left work on Friday at 4.30pm by teen terrorist Farhad Jabar.
Police suspects that the teenage gunman was politically motivated and link his attack to terrorism. “We know that we are seeing people younger and younger being influenced…but we can not be monitoring every single person…and that is the unfortunate reality”.
