Five charged in Sydney over ‘gang rape’ found on GoPro camera

The assaults allegedly took place at a party at the western Sydney suburb of St Clair in May.

The police reported that about eight people were present in the room during the assault.

They were arrested after police officers found the footage on a GoPro camera during an anti-graffiti operation.

The alleged victim did not report the rape at the time of the incident. After initially pinpointing the location of the party, they were then able to find the alleged victim and then track down the alleged rapists.

The 16-year-old girl is undergoing counseling while the four men, aged between 23 and 25, and a 17-year-old boy have been remanded in custody, facing multiple charges of sexual assault.

In addition to Carlyle-Watson, three other men and a 17-year-old boy have been charged with a host of offences including aggravated sexual assault in company and filming a person engaged in a private act.

All five have been refused bail and are due to face courts at Penrith and Mt Druitt on Thursday.

He has been refused bail to appear at Penrith Local Court today. All were charged with multiple sexual assault and aggravated sexual assault in company.

“These are predominantly adult males in their mid-20s and they’re filming a matter like this on a very young…”

“It was quite obvious to investigators when viewing this footage that the child was either unconscious or semi-conscious during these assaults”, he said.

One of the suspects was charged only with concealment of a “serious indictable offense”.
