Police gave few details about the arrests, although Sydney’s Daily Telegraph said one of those held was 15 years old.

A Regents Park man, 21, who walked off the set of SBS program Insight previous year after being grilled on Islamic State, was charged over the documents and has been in Goulburn’s SuperMax awaiting trial ever since.

Fellow EPL clubs Chelsea and Tottenham played in front of huge crowds in Sydney this year, while Manchester City, AS Roma and Real Madrid took part in the International Champions Cup in Melbourne.

Police allege the conspirators were involved in “formulating documents connected with preparations to facilitate, assist or engage a person to undertake a terrorist act”.

Two young people have been arrested in raids by federal and NSW police in south west Sydney. “We are proud to be associated with Arsenal, one of the world’s oldest and most prestigious football clubs, and look forward to welcoming them to Sydney in 2017”, he said.

He would not say how far along in planning the attacks the men allegedly had gone.

He was also raided during the initial Operation Appleby raid in September 2014 and is the relative of an imprisoned extremist.

Authorities said those charged today were “associates” of the men accused of involvement in the Cheng murder.

The 20-year-old will appear in court today, while the 15-year-old will appear at a children’s court.

Phelan said that the “whole Appleby crew” had been influenced by people overseas, and that those people had come in and out of Australia.

A boy of 15 and 20-year-old man have been arrested and charged with conspiracy to commit terrorism following early morning raids in Australia. “But we can mitigate it. We will continue to thwart and frustrate many attacks before they occur”.
