Five held in Australia over terror-linked shooting
Meanwhile, Deakin University’s Burwood campus in Melbourne hosted a conference organised by hardline Islamic group, the Islamic Research and Educational Academy last weekend, only hours after Friday’s terrorist attack in Sydney, with media barred from the event. During the raids five young men were arrested. Jabar was shot dead by police who believe he may have had accomplices.

“Know what your children are doing”, he said.
The 58-year-old, who had been with the police force’s finance department for 17 years, was shot in the back of the head by Farhad Jabar Khalil Mohammad.
“This week has been a tiring week for the community and in particular for Parramatta Mosque”, he said.
The past week has taken its toll on Kadomi.
“The community, the school, the police, the government are ignoring the youth”. “I’m not hiding anything”, he said.
“It is not compulsory to live in Australia”, he said.
“If you don’t like Australia, leave it”.
Parramatta Mosque is located on the first floor of a building on Marsden Street.
Authorities on Sunday searched a mosque the teenage shooter is believed to have attended, with the consent of religious leaders.
A few of those arrested had previously been detained as part of an investigation into an alleged 2014 plot to behead a random member of the public.
All men have now been released, except for 18-year-old Raban Alou who was arrested in Wentworthville and remained in custody overnight.
It also said CCTV footage showed Jabar meeting several men in the lead-up to the killing.
Initially there were only three protesters and a dog although this later grew slightly to 15, according to The Sydney Morning Herald.
State Premier Mike Baird said police were working with schools to tackle radicalisation.
The ABC has been told the group with Jabar “stood out” from the other faithful praying at the mosque as a result of their behaviour.
But New South Wales Police Deputy Commissioner Catherine Burn said Jabar was not on the radar of security services. Mr Scipione said it was fair to say the attack by Jabar was religiously motivated.

“This phenomenon of violent extremism is a challenge to the most fundamental Australian values” he stated on Friday at a media conference in Sydney held to appeal for unity and respect. “It’s a very, very serious concern that in the heart of our community there is attack planning that is underway and that may have led to what we saw on Friday”. “It’s nearly like they’ve groomed him like paedophiles to do something for them”.
