Riley confirmed Thursday night that five players will be suspended for the season opener against BYU.

“I love live practices-you can’t do them all the time but I don’t think there is any substitute for them”.

He would not name which players have been suspended. He said he might release the names during the week of the September 5 opener.

The Tribune story noted that one of those suspended is a defensive starter.

– Sophomore corner Chris Jones had a similar procedure done, and Riley also doesn’t know if he will be ready to go for BYU.

“It will become obvious as the kickoff occurs, so I’ll probably let you know”. “I’m not going to say any more about who it might be”.

Wilson will be taking a visit to the University of Oregon and keeping his options open until he sees what type of offense Mike Riley will install in Lincoln.

True freshman running back Jordan Stevenson was sidelined with an injury during Thursday’s practice.
