Five killed in new Kashmir violence
People were killed in retaliatory action by security forces after a group of protesters pelted stones at a CRPF vehicle at Aripathan in the Magam area this morning, a police official said.

The separatist camp is spearheading the protests in the valley over the civilian killings during the protests against Wani’s killing.
Another youth was martyred when the forces’ personnel subjected the protesters to brutal force in Larkipora area of Islamabad district.
The security forces shot dead four civilian protesters in the Kashmir Valley on Tuesday, taking the toll to 64 in the violent unrest triggered by the July 8 killing of a popular rebel commander.
In another incident, a man succumbed to a bullet injury in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district where 16 others were injured in firing by Indian security forces.
Locals allege that he was one of the soldiers who fired at them.
Former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah hit out at her successor Mehbooba Mufti for not owning up responsibility for the prevailing situation in Kashmir.
In Srinagar, despite curfew imposed by authorities, protesters at dozens of places clashed with security forces in which several people were injured, Separatist leaders, Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Yasin Malik, who are spearheading the agitation, have asked all the Kashmiris to come on roads for 72 hours to protest the killings.
Broadband, internet and postpaid services remained suspended for the fourth consecutive day across Kashmir, except in some areas housing government offices.
More protests erupted across the region as thousands of people took to the streets in defiance of curfew orders.
“There will be a complete curfew on Wednesday”, an officer told IANS here. Also, in the Srinagar gunfight between militants and forces which ended late Mondayafternoon both the militants were killed. Five of them allegedly tried to cross the Line of Control – the de facto border that divides Kashmir between India and Pakistan.

Two more died after attacking paramilitary troopers in Srinagar.
