‘Five Nights at Freddy’s’ Movie Haunted By ‘Poltergeist’ Director
Deadline has learned that Gil Kenan, who recently handled the “Poltergeist” remake, has been approached by Warner Bros.to helm the big screen adaptation of “Five Nights at Freddy’s”. You step into the shoes of a security guard who must “survive his or her shift by keeping an eye on the security cameras and using them to track the animatronic animals that come to life and roam the restaurant at night”.

Earlier this year Warner Bros announced that they had acquired the rights to make a movie based on the horror video game sensation “Five Nights at Freddy’s“. Furthermore, he’ll pen the screenplay for Five Nights At Freddy’s alongside Tyler Burton Smith. It was more of the same for another two games until Five Nights at Freddy’s 4, the final release in the franchise, revitalised proceedings by moving the jump scares to a young child’s bedroom. If the movie decides to go with FN4s story, Poltergeist’s Kennedi Clements can be casted.
The game became popular as it was one of the few horror games that children could enjoy to play unless they had a heart condition. Roy Lee (The Ring, The Grudge, Godzilla) and Seth Grahame-Smith (Abraham Lincoln Vampire Slayer, Beetlejuice) will produce with David Katzenberg, Adam Stone and Jay Ireland executive producing. More news on the movie as we hear it…

Though the first game only debuted back in August of 2014, a sequel was released in November of 2014 with a third chapter making its way online this past March. The game was also easily sharable as people were interested to see their friends get spooked by a cute looking stuffed toy.
