The shooting guard, who is from Maryland’s famed DeMatha High School, shockingly picked the Huskies over current college basketball powers such as Kentucky, Arizona, Louisville, and Maryland.

“It’s like a new world for me-going to a different place”, Fultz, a native of Upper Marlboro, Md., said who was one of 24 players selected for the Under Armour event.

The difference between Fultz and those players, though, is that he’s not from Washington or the west coast. Fultz can sign his letter November . 11.

Both Louisville and Washington have commitments in the Class of 2016 already, with the Cardinals having landed the aforementioned King and the Huskies holding a pledge from center Sam Timmins. By Friday afternoon, however, he had eliminated the Wildcats from consideration and identified Arizona, Louisville and Washington as his three finalists. Williams-Goss gave Washington 15.6 points, 4.7 rebounds and 5.9 assists per game in his freshman season, but struggled from beyond the arc.

“[I’m] hoping to get them over the hump and make it into the Final Four-so that’s my goal right there”, said Fultz, who noted that his relationship with the Huskies’ coaching staff as one of the major factors behind his decision. The most intriguing part of his recruitment, though, is that Kentucky never became a bigger player.

Fultz told Sporting News in July that he “didn’t know (he) would be this good” after a series of brilliant spring and summer performances with his AAU team, the DC Blue Devils, catalyzed his rise up the Class of 2016 ranking.

DeMatha Coach Mike Jones has said that Fultz will likely see time at point guard this coming winter, drawing on the ball-handling and passing skills he’s polished in the offseason.
