Up to five devices have been found in a backpack in a waste basket in Elizabeth, New Jersey, according to Elizabeth Mayor Chris Bollwage.
An improvised explosive device was detonated in a busy part of New York City late on Saturday evening injuring 29 people and a second device was found nearby and safely disarmed.
The person of interest being sought by authorities in the Chelsea and Seaside Park bombings, Ahmad Khan Rahami, lives in Elizabeth, and it is believed his family owns American Fried Chicken at 104 Elmora Ave.in the city, Bollwage said.
“A bomb going off is generically a terrorist activity”, said Cuomo, who ordered 1,000 New York State Police and National Guard members deployed across the city.

A large explosion was heard early on Monday near the transit station, NBC News reported.
More details emerged about the NY bombing overnight, with several US media sites claiming that the explosives were described as being pressure cookers filled with shrapnel, the same method used in the Boston Marathon bombing in 2013.
Authorities early on Monday were working to remove the other devices found in the backpack, Bollwage said.
Amtrak was operating on a modified schedule.
It was not clear when the Elizabeth station would be open, a threat to cause major issues on the Monday morning commute into NY.
New Jersey Transit says service has been suspended between Newark Liberty Airport and Elizabeth. Bollwage said it “could have hurt a lot of people”.
