FKA Twigs claims she is ‘traditional’ Gloucestershire girl

When asked who she’s “doing it [making music] for”, FKA Twigs, who has been seen as the non-traditional performer to most, gave a rather traditional answer.

Born in rural Gloucestershire, the Two Weeks singer has neither officially confirmed or denied whether she’s set to tie the knot with RPatz, though she does seem quite content to settle down with in the country with a few faceless gentleman.

Robert Pattinson’s fiancee added that she is the kind of girl who would say, “Go to school, work hard on your GCSEs, do your A-Levels, get married, have children”. I’ve never had that, “Oh my god, I’ve gotta wait backstage!” I’m not affected by what fans would think, or by people critiquing what I do.

Twigs clarifies it’s her own future kids that motivate her the most. A few are old ladies, witch doctors from Louisiana, kids that have just left art school.

“I was talking to my dad about this and I bet him that if he looked up Nelson Mandela’s funeral on YouTube, the first comment would be a racist one”, stated Pattinson during an interview with NME. “You know that saying, ‘You can take the girl out of the country but you can’t take the country out of the girl?'”

“I need to get better at being in front of the camera, not feeling awkward if I go on the red carpet”, she explains. I don’t really do that. “Gay or lesbian couples, straight middle-aged couples…”, she added. I have that throbbing energy, and I accept it, and I harness it when I need to.

Previous COMPLEX cover star FKA Twigs sat down with us earlier this year to talk all about her avant-garde vision for her latest EP release M3LLI55X and reinventing what it means to be a pop star in a fame-fueled world.

“I’m honest, and that comes out”, she said. It’s not even a conscious thing’. “I just like working hard and learning things”. And I want to be a role model, but not for the world.

In the new issue, which hits newsstands October 20, she also admitted that she is still quite confused with the concept of having fans at all.
