Fla. couple accused of abusing elderly woman

Neighbors who say they saw a murdered woman’s body hanging by her sleeve from a chain link fence Tuesday, October 13, at first thought it was a Halloween decoration, according to reports from CBS affiliate WKRC.

She instead lost consciousness at a few point and woke in a pool of blood.

– Osceola County sheriff’s detectives have arrested a Kissimmee couple in an investigation into the abuse and neglect of an 81-year-old woman. Raymond eventually called for emergency help and medical personnel said her injuries were not consistent with a fall.

Both he and his goateed wife, 54, were arrested on felony battery charges. Debbie was charged with Battery on a Person Over 65 Years Old.

It was then that doctors alerted authorities to the abuse injuries.

Raymond Sutherland, of Osceola County, Florida was charged in connection with the abuse of his 81 year old mother.

While recovering at a temporary rehabilitation center in Kissimmee, the elderly woman said she had fallen in her bedroom and repeatedly asked her son for help. She is now in critical condition.

When questioned, he denied hurting his mother but claimed his medication caused to black out.

Raymond Sutherland was charged with battery on a person over 65 years old, aggravated battery on a person over 65 years old, aggravated abuse of an elderly person, and neglect of an elderly person with great harm. They are both being held in Osceola County Jail.
