Police in the USA state of Florida say a mother has fatally shot her daughter after mistaking her for an intruder.

Awoken from an abrupt noise, the woman reached for a.38-caliber pistol from an unknown location and fired at who she believed was a quickly approaching intruder, officials said.
“Baby, I love you so much, please!” she sobbed. “Please…Oh my god…” Police said that the shooting was, indeed, accidental.
“At this time, the incident appears to be an accidental shooting; however, the investigation is ongoing…”
The officer, a 17-year-veteran, is on administrative leave but is not under investigation, the department said.
Events at the Campbells’ 10th street home unfolded on Tuesday just before midnight, police said.
St. Cloud is located in central Florida, about 35 minutes from Orlando.
