“Indiana’s bicentennial offers something for every Hoosier”, Perry Hammock, executive director of the Indiana Bicentennial Commission, said in a statement. Those flags were distributed to all cities, towns and counties.

The official Indiana Bicentennial flag, which will be flown starting Friday to mark exactly one year until the state’s 200th birthday.
Friday was selected as the date of the flag raising because it’s the state’s 199th birthday, said Arann Banks of Brownstown. IN was admitted as the 19th state of the Union on this day in 1816 by President James Madison.
The theme for the bicentennial is “Celebrate History, Ignite the Future”.
The state is spending more than $50 million on bicentennial-related activities.
The Indiana State Museum is also holding a special event.
Several events are scheduled throughout the year including the Indiana Bicentennial Torch Relay in September. It takes a long time to make a great state great. Elkhart County will host the torch on October 4, beginning at 8:30 a.m.in Middlebury.
