Flash flood wreaks havoc on USA town

Almost six inches of rain fell in a two-hour period. The most remarkable aspects of this storm had to do with the rapid rainfall rates, with 1.44 inches of rain falling in just 10 minutes between 7:50 p.m. and 7:55 p.m. on Saturday evening. “In the past, it has been bad”.

As water continued rising, Weglein says she hugged the others there and feared she’d never see her 2-year-old son again.

“It was like a war zone”, Mary-Anne Mulcahy told the Baltimore Sun.”I couldn’t sleep last night because I kept seeing that water”, she said.

Blevins was with his girlfriend when water swept their vehicle away. All but Watsula was rescued. She was rescued but he was swept away.

The Rev. Dean Cover (COH’-ver) shared his memories of 35-year-old Jessica Watsula on Monday in a telephone interview from Living Waters Chapel in Lebanon, Pennsylvania. About 180 inoperable vehicles have been towed from the Main Street area to a local high school.

“I don’t think anything could have stopped this tragedy”, he said, “but, as you know, we have flooding”. Four homes were completely destroyed and between 20 and 30 more were damaged by the floodwaters.

Howard County officials posted a photo on social media of a glass and wood storefront with its foundation ripped away, leaving a void where wooden struts were installed as a work crew tried to stabilize the building. “It looks like a war zone”.

The Patapsco River, which runs through the area, rose more than 13 feet according to the National Weather Service.

He noted the watershed area was small, with streams converging in a tight area in the city.
