Flint Residents Will Be Hired To Help Test Water

Residents of Flint have filed lawsuits against nearly anyone who may have had a role in supplying the city with water that contained unsafe amounts of lead. He said lead pipes are being recoated with chemicals that were not added to control corrosion after the decision in 2014 to use the Flint River as the city’s water source.

Anna Heaton, deputy press secretary for Snyder, said “We appreciate Rep. Kildee seeking answers and immediate solutions from the state about what is being done to help Flint residents, as that is exactly what the governor will be presenting on Wednesday”.

Gov. Snyder has repeatedly apologized to the residents of Flint and is leading an aggressive effort to remedy the situation.

Clinton has previously called the Flint water crisis a “civil rights issue”, and she repeated statements Sunday that the catastrophe would never have occurred in one of Detroit’s wealthy suburbs.

Sanders, meanwhile, told Tapper in an interview that aired Sunday on “State of the Union” that the city’s ongoing water crisis “a national priority”.

“People in New Hampshire probably care about what’s happening to the kids, the families in Flint”, said Clinton’s chief strategy Joel Benenson. The scope of the problem came into even better focus when local pediatrician Mona Hanna-Attisha announced that records showed lead levels in toddlers had doubled, and in some cases tripled, since the switch from Lake Huron.

“They didn’t teach me this stuff in seminary”, Odette said.

“My child looks to me to protect them and when I go to protect them, and they trust me to protect them, and I am pouring poison down them, that just, you just, that does something to you”, Webster said. In children, lead can cause irreversible brain damage. The move was a cost-saving measure and was put in place only until a new supply line to Lake Huron was ready.

Federal officials had been alarmed the previous week by water samples of unfiltered water from the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality that suggested Flint’s lead contamination in parts of the city was stronger than residential faucet filters can handle.
