Flipkart Opens New Fulfilment Centre In Hyderabad To Meet Demand

E-commerce giant, Flipkart, opened its largest fulfilment centre here in Hyderabad on Friday, taking its total warehouse strength in the country to 17.

He further said that Flipkart will be investing a couple of billions of dollars in logistics, and overall development. Within the next 4-to 5 decades, it’ll commit 2.5 million pounds within the organization, including 500-million bucks in establishing 80 to 100 Satisfaction Centers (FC) across Asia, stated Co Founder and Chief Operating Officer Binny Bansal. “We expect to get in profitable zone in next 2-3 years”. “It depends on a lot of factors”.

He, however, refused to be drawn into giving a timeframe for the share sale.

E-commerce players are witnessing a business explosion as more tech-savvy consumers are logging into online sites to make purchases.

The expansion is expected to help the company achieve its goal to reach all regions and deliver the shipment to any customer in the country in two days.

Recently, rival Snapdeal announced $150-200 million investment this fiscal to expand its delivery channels. It has also picked up a minority stake in logistics firm GoJavas.

The fulfillment centre, located in Gundlapochampally in Medchal Mandal of neighbouring Ranga Reddy district in the state, is spread over 2.2 lakh sq ft and holds storage capacity of 5.89 lakh cubic ft. “South India has been our biggest market contributing to 40 per cent of our sales”, Mr Bansal added.

“So far we have invested $100 million in setting up fulfilment centres over the past eight years and going ahead, we will fund the addition of new centres and building the supply chain”, he said.
