Flores Tells Colleagues He’s Ready to Run for House Speaker
In his still-hypothetical bid for the Speakership, Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) has secured the coveted endorsement of Rep. Luis Gutierrez (D-Ill.), probably the most strident voice for amnesty in Congress. Gutierrez told MSBNC: “He would be good for the country”.

The worst job in the world, it turns out, isn’t the USA presidency but speaker of the House of Representatives.
‘I am considering whether or not to put my name in the hat, ‘ Issa said on CNBC’s Squawk Box on Friday. He is a proven leader and a unifier, something lacking from previous speakers. Top Republicans say such confrontations could result in a federal shutdown and a default – which leaders fear voters would blame on the GOP in next year’s elections.
On the one hand, it’s unlikely his first priority would be to give Obama an immigration deal. My concern with Congressman Webster is that he represents a district in Florida that may be changed through reapportionment.
“They think their organizational strength and the more favorable terrain of the Southern states can help them deliver that March 1 knockout punch”.
Their intransigence produced a series of fruitless crises. And this isn’t a few problem for the distant future: The latest budget deadline is just weeks away on December. 11 (thanks to the recently-approved continuing resolution), and the debt ceiling might come to a head even earlier – perhaps by the end of the month. You, Kevin McCarthy, talked about repealing the bank bailout and unwinding “the vast amounts of government spending and mandates that distorts the innovation and free enterprise in our financial-services industry, our health-care system, our vehicle companies, our energy sector”.
“We need a conservative Speaker who stands up to the pressure from Washington and not be just like the establishment”, she said. “The longer that you are there, the less reflective of the people and more reflective of inertia”. Boehner understood that much of the time.
He had also been suffering politically after making comments that insinuated the House Benghazi committee’s function was to take down Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton. “And now the hijackers want what they were promised”.
They have always been up-front: Anyone who believes that President Obama poses a grave threat to our constitutional rights – and that Republican leaders have sold out conservative principles for decades – has no choice but to throw sand into the gears of government.
Back in the House of Representatives, the insurgents were not happy with McCarthy.
They’re dealing with a faction that considers compromise sinful. On any issue of great outcome around here, we on the Republican side don’t have 218 votes for a bathroom break!
Rokita says Boehner may actually gain clout from announcing his resignation – to the dismay of the House’s most conservative members. Like Speaker John Boehner, he was jerked around by the three dozen or so members of the Freedom Caucus who promised a bloc vote in exchange for public pledges, which McCarthy (to his credit) refused to make.
The sensible thing at this point might be for the Republican conference to split. Freedom Caucus members have fought frequently with Boehner. Subsequent reports revealed McCarthy already knew he didn’t have enough votes to win, or if he did, it was barely enough, but an insufficient majority to rule the contentious GOP caucus.

That won’t happen in our system.
