Florida AG Asked for Trump Donation, Then Backed Off Trump U Suit

An accountant who works for Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi said she tried to return a controversial $25,000 donation from Donald Trump’s foundation, but it was not accepted. Trump also paid the former Attorney General of Texas, Greg Abbott, $35,000 to his campaign fund.

The Associated Press reviewed government records obtained through a public records request by the Democratic political action committee American Bridge.

Both Bondi and Abbott have endorsed Trump for president. In internal emails, Bondi’s own staff appeared to lump Trump University and the Trump Institute together – as New York’s lawsuit has done. On Tuesday she provided a statement to some news outlets saying stories suggesting a quid pro quo between the donation and the decision not to investigate were “misleading”. After the check came in, Bondi dropped the investigation.

“When I want something, I get it”. When I call, they kiss my a**.

Media reports came rolling in this week after the Associated Press received disclosure documents from Bondi’s office showing the timeline of when she received the donation and when her office decided not to pursue a case against Trump University.

More than 20 Floridians had submitted complaints to Bondi’s office seeking help in getting refunds from the university, according to the AP, though she said through a spokesperson that she was aware of only one such complaint.

Another news is besmirching what is left of Trump University’s merit. She referred questions to Marc Reichelderfer, a political consultant who worked for Bondi’s reelection campaign, who told the publication that the attorney general talked to Trump “several weeks” prior to her office announcing it would look into joining the lawsuit. Trump has denied the allegation and is vigorously fighting the lawsuit. I would never take money.

“I’m going to let the accountants handle this”.

Democrats said they aren’t relenting in pushing for Bondi to provide a clearer explanation of the donation – though they wouldn’t talk Wednesday about how to they might force a probe.

Gelber likened it to a judge being barred from soliciting money or a state attorney running for local office but having to avoid conflicts with political supporters. “That is paramount”, Gelber said.

A spokesman for Abbott, now the Texas governor, said the case was dropped after Trump’s organization agreed to stop offering his namesake real-estate seminars in the state.

“I think it’s unfortunate that so much of the office has been defined by its ideological suits as opposed to consumer suits”. She also claimed to be an outsider who would function as a legal officer and not a politician. She jumped in with 16 other states to sue the Environmental Protection Agency, siding with big polluters, many environmentalists say. “But unfortunately it isn’t always”.
