Florida AG Solicited $25K From Trump Before Dumping Trump U Lawsuit

Attorney General Pam Bondi is coming out swinging after the Associated Press reported she “personally solicited” a political donation from Donald Trump before killing an investigation into Trump University and its affiliates. Four days after that announcement, a group supporting Bondi called And Justice for All received a $25,000 check from a Trump family foundation, apparently in violation of rules governing charities’ political activity. He said, “News reports indicate that the Florida Attorney General’s office was contemplating the matter of investigating claims on behalf of Floridians who said they had been victims of Trump University”.

After the check came in, AP wrote, Bondi’s office said there wasn’t sufficient ground to proceed and nixed suing Trump.

The details surrounding “Trump University” and Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi (R) already painted an unflattering picture.

Now, Deputy Attorney General Trish Conners is acting chief deputy and General Counsel Kent Perez is acting chief of staff, a press release said.

“During the call, Trump urged his surrogates to not only defend his attacks on U.S. District Judge Gonzalo Curiel, but to join in themselves”.

Bondi was the most prominent Florida politician to endorse Trump before the Florida primary and continues to work closely with the Trump campaign as a surrogate. Reichelderfer said Bondi did speak with Trump personally “several weeks” before it was announced that Florida was considering joining NY in suing Trump University.

Yet another wrinkle within the overhanging scandal of Trump University is how Donald Trump paid the funds to Bondi.

After the check came in, Ms. Bondi abandoned all consideration of partnering with her counterpart in NY.

Bondi’s office said that its statement about receiving only a single complaint was accurate at the time because most of the complaints dealt with the Trump Institute, a separate corporate entity from Trump University. The case files show that they spent more than a year investigating Trump University, had what they considered very strong evidence that Trump University had violated numerous state laws and was operating in the state without a license.

A spokesman for Abbott, now the Texas governor, said the case was dropped after Trump’s organization agreed to stop offering his namesake real-estate seminars in the state. Now she states she did.The Attorney General of Florida seems to be lacking integrity, honesty and transparency. “It’s supposed to be a political-free zone”.
