Ebron, who lived with Lonzie’s mother, was caring for the boy and his 5-year-old sister when Lonzie disappeared July 24.

Fifteen to 20 minutes later, police had located the orange 1995 Honda Civic just four blocks away.
The Amber Alert has been canceled, and authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the boy’s disappearance.
“I’m cancelling the Amber Alert and not working this as an abduction anymore”, Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office Chief of Investigations Tom Hackney said.
After the first several days, Hackney said the chance of finding Lonzie alive was “slipping away” and began talking in terms of recovering a body and building a murder case against Ebron, who initially reported Lonzie was abducted in a vehicle theft at the Ravenwood Apartments on Old Kings Road.
Ebron is being held in jail on two counts of child neglect.
Investigators have said Ebron isn’t cooperating with them. Hackney said he hopes Ebron learns of the surveillance video’s existence.
“His narrative is crumbling, We have a surprising amount of physical evidence”, Hackney said.
“I can’t reach out to him, but what I can do is pass this information on to those who have contact with him”, Hackney said.
Large-scale search efforts by authorities to find Lonzie wound down after Sunday, August 2, ten days after he was originally reported missing by Ebron.
At that time, Ebron said he had no idea if Lonzie was in the auto or not.
He added it is that type of dedication that will help to bring Lonzie back to his family.
