Florida Beat Tennessee With This Crazy Fourth Down Conversion

For all the positive rhetoric around the Vols program recently, it still appears they can’t escape floating around.500 like they have been dating back to the end of the Phillip Fulmer era. Alabama is responsible for four of those eight losses.

The Gators, on the other hand, are undefeated at 3-0.

“It’s just like backyard, old-school football”.

The last time the Vols won the game, they made a field goal as time expired to win 30-28. That gave the ball back to the Gators, who then hit the huge fourth-down play. And while I believe that’s because of poor pass protection, the reasoning behind the lack of creativity doesn’t excuse the lack of creativity.

“Coach showed a lot of faith in us”, said tight end Jake McGee, who caught two fourth-down passes.

“We have to continue to work and grind”. Like it or not, fans are going to criticize his coaching abilities after this debacle. Obviously, we always look at special teams and they’re very athletic and have very good team speed across the board in all three phases. We have been through this, but I see our progress.

Time and time again on the game-winning 86-yard drive, he made electric plays out of nothing when the blocking broke down. You go for two and try to take a 14-point lead.

The Gators had problems on both sides of the ball, but when they had to make plays with the game on the line, they did. “My teammates did a really good job just staying in it. We fought to the end and that’s what you’ve got to do to win games like that”. “We have 24 hours and we have to move on (to Arkansas)”.

The ending at Florida was similar to the one against Oklahoma, where Tennessee blew a two-touchdown lead in the fourth quarter and lost in double overtime.

“But I think there was some things just from a communicative standpoint of stopping the clock, is he out of bounds, was he in bounds – some things that way”. “I want you to put it all on my shoulders. That’s the responsibility of being the head football coach”. Tennessee had better talent than Florida, a team that suspended backup quarterback Treon Harris and a defensive back during the week. He had addressed those situations after the game.

NEXT UP: Tennessee (2-2, 0-1 SEC) hosts Arkansas next Saturday (time & TV TBA).

Florida ended up punting on that drive, but the Sooners had scored on a drive when Jones declined a penalty.

KICKING WOES: Neither Tennessee or Florida probably want this game to come down to a field goal.

His first confounding decision came with Tennessee leading 20-7 in the third quarter and apparently forcing a field-goal attempt by Florida on fourth and 6 from the Vols’ 25. “It’s going to be a great matchup, and we’re looking to upset them”.

Much is at stake for the Tennessee squad which has failed to live up to off-season hype, allowing giving up 433 yards against Bowling Green and losing to Oklahoma in a humiliating second-quarter collapse.

Grier found Antonio Callaway on an intermediate in route, and three Tennessee defenders swarmed to him.

We don’t know if the department was actually going to do this, and the GPD’s Twitter bio says the verified account contains “Info from the #Gainesville, Florida Police Department with a pinch of cop humor”. Everything that we do is looked at.

“I am the head football coach, and I am responsible for anything and everything”, Jones said Monday at his weekly news conference when asked how he reacts to criticism. “We live in a week-to-week season”.
