A manhunt was underway in downtown Fort Lauderdale Friday morning after a murder suspect escaped from the Broward County courthouse, leaving his prison jumpsuit and shackles behind on a hallway floor.

Resiles is charged with first-degree murder. Police believe Resiles is still inside the courthouse facility.
K9 units and police officials are searching the courthouse.
“I’ve been practicing in Fort Lauderdale for 43 years and I’ve never had a client escape or attempt to escape in this matter”, Resiles’ attorney, Dohn Williams, told CBS 4 Miami.
He added that it was very out of character for Resiles, who has appeared optimistic about the trial.
The search for Resiles was being led by Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel.
BSO spokeswoman Keyla Concepcion said Dayont’e Resiles, 21, escaped from the courthouse about 9:30 a.m. He was arrested in connection with the 2014 death of Jill Su, who was found dead in a bathtub at her Davie home. Williams said he had no idea his client planned to escape. “Another lawyer was speaking to Judge Singhal and I hear a bang when he ran through the swing door that separates the court from the public”.
He was last seen wearing a white T-shirt and black shorts.
Resiles was in the jury box with other prisoners who were awaiting their hearings.

Witnesses say Resiles then plowed through two guarded doors with the skill of an National Football League running back.
