A diver in Sarasota shot and seriously injured a fellow diver with a spear gun in what authorities are describing as an accident.
Police say the investigation shows the incident was an accident and do not expect to file charges.
The errant arrow nailed 21-year-old Jarrod Ditmars in the head, critically wounding him on Saturday, according to Sarasota police.
Officials said Bartush took Ditmars to the surface and yelled for help. The victim has non-life threatening injuries after being transported to Sarasota Memorial Hospital as a trauma alert. As of Sunday, he remained in the Intensive Care Unit.

Bartush probably won’t be charged, because he didn’t mean to shoot his friend, police said.
