Florida Gator Found Chomping On Human Remains – Again
Police in central Florida are trying to figure out how an alligator got ahold of a dead body.

The condition of body indicated it had likely been in the water at least a day, a Lakeland Police Department sergeant told the local newspaper, the Ledger.
It has since let go of the body, which is now on the bank with Lakeland Police crime scene investigators.
Police say the gator had a man’s body that had been in the water more than a day, according to its state of decomposition. The animal later released the body and officers were able to retrieve it. The alligator is estimated to be about 8 to 10 feet long.
Two alligators were found with a dead body in southern Florida in late May.
The body has yet to be identified and police are hoping to use missing person records to aid this process. After examination sometime today, if it is discovered that this is not the alligator in question, the trapper will try again this evening.
Police in Lakeland are swarming around a lake after receiving a call Tuesday about a gator with a person in its mouth.
In total, six officers separately searched the lake without any indication of a person in the water. They say the victim is a male, but they have not yet identified him.
The man’s body was found Monday, May 30th, by two fisherman in a canal west of US 27, just north of Sheridan Street.

Trappers with Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission managed to stun what they believe to be the same reptile and drag it out of Lake Hunter and onto a boat.
