Kenzo Roberts, 20, was taken into custody on a highway outside of Fort Myers after he was pulled over in a 2015 Mercedes.
Lee County Sheriff’s Office Kenzo Roberts, 20, chewed off his fingertips after he was arrested in Lee County, Fla., in a gross attempt to avoid being identified. Police quickly found out that Roberts was in possession of a fake ID, three stolen credit cards, and a concealed firearm, and therefore tucked him away in the back of their squad vehicle.
Once the officers saw what Roberts was doing, they stopped him and ran his fingerprints through an electronic scanner, which turned up his true identity.
It was not made clear why Roberts was not handcuffed in the back of the police vehicle.

Despite his self-mutilation, fingertip scanners shortly identified the suspect. Deputies charged Roberts with several offenses, including carrying a concealed firearm, giving false identification to law enforcement and grand theft auto. He was already facing two felony warrants for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. The news outlet says U.S. Customs and Border Patrol was contacted and Roberts was found to be in the country illegally.
