The daughter had been visiting from North Carolina and didn’t live in the home, Roberts said.

Emergency medical crews took the daughter to a local hospital, where she died from her injuries. The woman heard that person quickly approaching and, thinking it was an intruder, she fired a single shot.
Fox35 reports the woman had been asleep when she thought someone was breaking into her home on Tenth Street in St. Cloud in Osceola County shortly before midnight on Tuesday.
Police in St. Cloud said a woman mistook her daughter for an intruder, fatally shooting her late Wednesday night. The homeowner was also taken to the hospital.
The state attorney’s office will review the shooting to decide whether charges should be filed after the St. Cloud Police Department has completed its investigation.
Police said that so far the homeowner’s story is consistent with physical evidence, according to the station.
“At this time, the incident appears to be an accidental shooting”, a statement from police said.

Police officials reportedly used an exemption under Florida law that allows them to withhold the identities of those involved because a person in the household works in law enforcement.
