Florida’s already flooding from tropical weather
“We can not recall a case where three tropical cyclones were directly impacting the U.S.at the same time”, National Hurricane Center spokesman Dennis Feltgen said. A deepening trough over the southeastern United States should cause the tropical cyclone to accelerate north-northeastward or northeastward by tonight.

The storm’s winds had uprooted a pine tree in Gatlin’s backyard and sent it crashing onto his home of more than 40 years.
“We still expect the storm to stay far enough to the north that we won’t get the brunt of the system”, he said.
But the hurricane center on Tuesday took the unusual step of issuing hurricane and tropical storm watches for portions of Florida’s Gulf coast.
The Triad should remain on the western side of the storm which will result in a lesser amount of rain from Hermine, but periods of heavy rain will still be possible.
While parts of the Gulf Coast near Tampa saw heavy rain Wednesday morning, Florida Gov. Rick Scott said people should be prepared for the worst.
CARRABELLE, Fla. (AP) – Hurricane Hermine made landfall in Florida’s Big Bend area early Friday as the first hurricane to hit the state in more than a decade, bringing soaking rain, high winds and thousands of power outages. It could be near hurricane strength by the time it makes landfall.
We’re also tracking Tropical Depression 8 in the Atlantic about 65 miles east-southeast of Cape Hatteras, North Carolina. Air Force recon mission have found hurricane force winds in Hermine.
Governor Scott said in statement, “Last night, hurricane and tropical storm watches were issued along Florida’s Gulf Coast from Pasco County to Gulf County”. Meteorologists said scattered tornadoes and flash flooding could also arrive with the system. Forecasters warned the northwest of the state could see to 12 inches of rain.
As of the 5 a.m. hurricane center update, tropical depression nine was about 405 miles south-southwest of Apalachicola and about 425 miles southwest of Tampa.

An emergency management official says North Carolina’s Outer Banks were spared from a tropical weather system that had been moving toward the state for two days. The forecaster said any shift in the storm’s forecast track could mean it would hit land. In the tropics, Hurricanes Lester and Madeline march towards Hawaii.
