Florida State: Everett Golson Will not play in bowl
Florida State quarterback Everett Golson will not travel with the team to Atlanta for Thursday’s Peach Bowl, according to coach Jimbo Fisher, meaning the graduate transfer has played his final collegiate game. After speaking at the team’s preseason media day, Golson was not made available to the media the rest of the year. Fisher said Golson was not at that practice because his grandmother passed away.

Bruce Feldman of Fox Sports reports that Golson’s absence from the trip is due to the death of a very close family member. Golson previously lost the starting job to junior Sean Maguire and may have just wanted to move on early. So far, he has appeared in nine games, thrown 219 passes, completed 147 of them, and tossed 11 touchdowns. Golson will presumably now begin preparing for the draft process.
The redshirt senior arrived in Tallahassee, Florida, from Notre Dame in May, when he was battling Malik Zaire for the Fighting Irish’s starting spot.
Golson was the quarterback when Notre Dame went to the BCS Championship Game vs. Alabama after the 2012 season.
Golson finished his Irish career with a 17-6 record as a starter, completing 59.5 percent of his passes for 5,850 yards with 41 touchdowns and 20 interceptions.

Golson’s time at Florida State also will be known for being muzzled by Fisher throughout the season. “For him to really tell me the real of the situation, I respected that so much more”. But the limited time to work together and mixed results on the field ultimately led to the end of the experiment.
