Florida to pick a Democrat to face Rubio in November

Murphy, meanwhile, overcame a challenge from Rep. Alan Grayson, earning 60 percent of the vote to Grayson’s 17 percent, according to the AP. Earlier this month, Murphy stopped running ads, signaling that he’s conserving his war chest for Rubio.

Rep. Murphy has represented the Florida’s 18th congressional district since January 2013.

Arpaio had amassed a war chest of more than $10 million.

He will now have to change public perception, not only from when he ran lost the presidential bid, but also the criticisms what came up while he was Senator-among them, his absence from votes while he was running for president.

With 87.5 percent of precincts reporting, Rubio was leading developer Carlos Beruff by roughly 53 percentage points — carrying nearly 71.9 percent of the vote to Beruff’s 18.7 percent.

In Florida, Rubio almost cleared a five-man field when he dramatically entered the primary this summer, three months after ending his unsuccessful presidential bid.

Grayson’s camp said the representative will not support Murphy. The state is considered a tossup in November, but Rubio has led both Democrats in recent polls as Grayson and Murphy attacked each other’s ethics. That’s because Grayson’s problems ranged from having a fund set up in the Cayman Islands in order to solicit funds from foreign investors to his ex-wife accusing him of domestic abuse.
