Florida Unemployment Rate Drops to 5.1 Percent
The national report showed payrolls across the US climbed by 271,000 in October, the strongest increase this year, following a gain of 137,000 the month before. San Mateo County has the lowest unemployment rate in the state at 3.2 percent and Imperial County has the highest with 21.8 percent, according to the data. That gain is by 203,900 jobs over the trailing 12 months now. Losses were reported in both durable goods (-2,300) and nondurable goods (-1,600) manufacturing.

There were 180,500 jobs in the educational and health services sector in October, up 5,400 jobs in the past year. The First Coast’s unemployment rate is just under 5 percent while the statewide rate is just over 5 percent. For October, 454 job orders were posted, down more than 8 percent from the same month previous year.
Connecticut Business & Industry Association Economist Pete Gioia called the state’s October employment numbers “disappointing” and said the decline in the unemployment rate was due to a 3,223 decline in the labor force.
Among the nine geographic divisions, the West North Central had the lowest unemployment rate, 4.0 percent in October. Since December 2010, 978,800 private-sector jobs have been created in Florida.
The BLS revised that months’ job creation upward to 29,200 from 26,600.
Goods producing was -4,200 from the prior month and -63,100 versus October 2014.
In Solano County, the lowest unemployment rate in October was Benicia’s 3.5 percent (excluding the Green Valley area’s 1.4 percent), according to the state.
“The Jacksonville area has continued to add jobs and the unemployment rate continues to drop because of our priority to cut taxes and diversity our economy”, Scott said. More than one-third of that amount, or $1,089, came from spending related to Medicaid or related support services. The largest significant job gains occurred in California (+41,200), Florida (+35,200), and OH (+30,800).
Compared to other counties, Humboldt is now ranked 15th from the top for lowest unemployment. The jobless total is down 6,000 from September.

The Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas forecasts Texas job growth of about 1.2 percent for this year.
