Colleen Burns, a 35-year-old woman from Orlando, Fla., slipped and fell into the Grand Canyon last week.

The National Park Service and the Coconino County Medical Examiner are investigating the incident.

Colleen Burns, who was visiting from Florida, tried to shift her position to let another tourist take in the view of the Arizona landmark when Burns lost her footing, a witness told WESH.

Burns’ death was announced Monday, the same day friends gathered at an Orlando tavern to remember the vivacious exec. She shared an image of herself sitting along a rock cliff in the Grand Canyon National Park Friday on Instagram.

She went on to become the Southeast Regional Marketing Director for Yelp, according to her LinkedIn profile.

The tragic loss of her friend will be felt for years, but she holds onto the recollections of everything Burns brought into her life. She had such an unmatched enthusiasm for life; the fire in her eyes and that insane infectious smile. Colleen launched the Yelp community in Orlando almost seven years ago.

Burns was also a fan of DJ Kaskade, who posted a tribute to Burns on his website: Colleen showed up in my life before the tidal wave of support had hit. ‘We are heartbroken but thankful to have been positively shaped by her passion and joy for life’. “Colleen Burns would have wanted it that way”, posted one of Burns’ friends on Facebook. “She had such an unmatched enthusiasm for life; the fire in her eyes and that insane infectious smile”.
