Florida woman opens up about Cosby assault allegations
Bill Cosby has been charged with aggravated indecent assault, a second-degree felony, in relation to a 2004 alleged sexual assault on former Temple University worker Andrea Constand, a Pennsylvania prosecutor announced Wednesday morning.

A preliminary hearing has been set for January 14.
“Grateful that Bill Cosby’s criminal record will be marked forever, like the lives of the women he raped”.
A day following the court proceedings, the 78-year-old’s attorney, Monique Pressley, is speaking out against the ruling.
As in all United States criminal cases, the burden would be on prosecutors to persuade a jury to find Cosby guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. “What we have is the fulfillment of campaign promise from a prosecutor who used this case and used the current climate about the allegations against my client in order to get into office”, Pressley said.
But his successor, District Attorney Risa Vetri Ferman, and Steele, her first assistant, re-opened the investigation this summer after the release of a potentially incriminating 2005 civil deposition from Cosby and after dozens of other women came forward with similar accusations of sexual misconduct by him.
A number of the fallen TV star’s other accusers applauded prosecutors for finally taking action on Wednesday, and before the arraignment, filmmaker Judd Apatow, who has been an outspoken critic of Cosby’s, also weighed in on the legal development.
The release of the testimony set off a torrent of allegations from other women that all but destroyed Cosby’s good-guy image.
Cosby’s lawyer declined to comment on the case before the announcement.
“Upon examination of all of the evidence, today we are able to seek justice on behalf of Mr. Cosby’s victim”, Montgomery County District Attorney-elect Kevin Steele said in a news conference Wednesday.
Many of those alleged assaults date back decades, and the statute of limitations for bringing charges has expired in almost every case.
Cosby is now facing criminal charges for the first time resulting from his conduct with women. She said Cosby offered her drugs at an after party 30 years ago, when she was just 19-years old. In the Cosby matter, prosecutors made it just under the wire, with Steele saying the unsealed documents and the parade of new accusers over the past decade helped him build a case.
Then Cosby’s potential prosecution – or lack thereof – unexpectedly erupted this fall as a central issue in the race for district attorney between Steele and Castor.
Cosby told Constand’s mother that he gave Constand a prescription medication but told police he gave her only Benadryl, which is sold over the counter, according to the affidavit.

Unless Cosby agrees to plead guilty, his case would proceed to a trial in suburban Philadelphia but any trial is probably several months away at least. She settled a civil case against Cosby for an undisclosed sum in 2006.
