Florida Zika Virus Outbreak: Students to Get Zika Lessons, Mosquito Protection

If you’ve traveled to Brazil or another country affected by Zika virus, there are a few precautions you should take to help reduce the potential spread of the virus.

Five cases of Zika have been connected to mosquitoes in Miami Beach, bringing the state’s caseload to 36 infections not related to travel outside the U.S., Florida’s governor and health department announced Friday.

The woman’s infection was confirmed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Gov. Scott will head to Miami to educate students at Jose de Diego Middle School on ways to avoid getting Zika. Starting Monday, 7,600 kids in Miami-Dade County will be attending school inside of one of the Zika zones – there are now two in the county. Philip said additional cases are being investigated in the county. He also criticized Congress for taking a recess before passing a Zika funding bill.
