Mitt Romeny, the 2012 Republican presidential nominee and a former MA governor, released a statement recalling the former first lady’s unique influence on politics.
“Nancy Reagan was totally devoted to President Reagan, and we take comfort that they will be reunited once more”.
The news of Reagan’s death drew condolence messages from across the country.
First lady Nancy Reagan swept into the White House in 1981, a swirl of designer gowns and pricey china, and was quickly dismissed as a pre-feminist throwback concerned only with fashion, decorating and entertaining. “For eight years, I was sleeping with the president, and if that doesn’t give you special access, I don’t know what does”, she said later.
“The first president I was able to vote for when I was 18 in 1988 was President Ronald Reagan”. “She was the judge of character, and if she thought somebody didn’t have her husband’s interest in mind, she nixed them”.
“When I worked at Neiman Marcus in Beverly Hills, which was probably about 20 years ago, she used to come in and shop with her friends and she was a very nice lady”, Meyerson said. “He said he had a busy day the next day and couldn’t stay out late and she couldn’t either, because she was going to work”.
Former President Ronald Reagan was elected governor of California in 1966.
It never apparently faded, and that helped make playing the tricky role of ideal supportive helpmate to Ronald Reagan’s conservative revolution – but with just the right touches of glamor and style – easy.
Hudson was trying to get treatment for AIDS in France, and the first lady reportedly turned down his request to be transferred to another hospital. She remained protective of her husband throughout his journey from actor to president, along with his struggle with Alzheimer’s disease for 10 years. He wrote that he is “saddened by the passing of my step mother Nancy Reagan”, before noting that “she is once again with the man she loved”. She convened debates at the Reagan Presidential Library, often donning her trademark red dress to sit in the front row.
Her marriage to Ronald Reagan lasted 52 years until his death in 2004.

In the midst of a recession, she spent lavishly on redecorating the White House interiors, famously ordering more than $200,000 (£140,500) of china. “He seemed to love us, and she was so protective of him”, Less said. Instead, they learned that Nancy Reagan had died. Reagan hated to fire anyone or even exert discipline; his wife played the heavy, whether with their children at home or the president’s staff in the White House.
Nancy was a remarkable woman… In recent years she broke with fellow Republicans in backing stem cell research as a way to possibly find a cure for Alzheimer’s.

“Nancy Reagan took great offense at that whole line of questioning”, Swatt said.
