Hall of Fame promoter Bob Arum was up all night Saturday but not because he was glued on the screen watching Floyd Mayweather run his unbeaten record to 49-0 against Andre Berto, a guy whose sole objective was to enchash his check. I’m close to 40 years old, I’ve been in this sport (for) 19 years, been world champion for 18 years.

“There’s nothing else to accomplish in this sport”.

“I can look at a fighter and tell you what he can do good, and what he can’t do good”.

“I was in great shape but it was hard to fight him”, Berto said. “My 49-0 record is a part of boxing“.

Mayweather, in his 26th title fight, controlled the action all night, now allowing Berto to land more than one punch at a time.

The Mayweathers have gone from relatively common people to newly rich during Floyd Mayweather’s 19-year career, during which he has earned more than $700 million.

From the opening bell, it was very clear that Berto, though a talented fighter, was in way over his head against the crafty Mayweather.

“Now it’s time to spend time with my family and children, make sure they get the proper education”. “I’m leaving with all my faculties”.

“I don’t want to rank myself, but I am the best at boxing”. Berto was effective in intermittent spots, but never landed a shot that appeared to trouble Mayweather and had only one round that more than one judge saw him winning.

“I’ve accomplished everything”, Mayweather said.

In a cheeky Instagram post during the Mayweather fight, Manny published a video of himself playing the digital piano and captioned it: “What I do when I’m bored”.

Watching Floyd Mayweather fight is like looking at a fine work of art – it may be boring, but you can’t help but appreciate the beauty. In 2008, six months after defeating Ricky Hatton, Mayweather announced his retirement from boxing. I want to see my records broken.

Mayweather is likely to be remembered for his defensive genius bordering on boredom which sometimes left boxing fans feeling short-changed.

Many fans will also be a little disillusioned with Mayweather PPVs after the disappointment of the “fight of the century” when Mayweather vs Pacquiao took place.
