“It wasn’t the prettiest one, but there’s no pictures on the standings, ” Kings center Anze Kopitar, who scored the lone shootout goal, said on Fox Sports West.

At the start of a five-game trip, the Kings’ first Eastern swing of the season, the Kings played well but never held the lead in regulation.

The goal took away the luster of Giroux’s goal with 8 minutes, 49 seconds left in regulation, snapping a 1-1 tie. “I always call a spade a spade, good or bad: Our team played hard and we played well tonight”. Each team recorded five shots on goal in the overtime with an absurd amont of end-to-end action and only two faceoffs in five minutes.

Kings goalie Jonathan Quick stopped two breakaway chances in the overtime, then stopped all three shootout chances.

Quick said there’s no secret to his shootout strategy.

“Yeah, I think he did a lot of good things for this organization, and personally, he was really good for me, too”, Giroux said, according to Miller.

“I don’t know why that wasn’t a goal in the second period”, Voracek added. McBain, with space, took a couple of steps in and fired a slap shot past Steve Mason, who was screened by Tanner Pearson, who was parked just outside the Flyers’ crease.

Milan Lucic’s net-front rebound goal tied the game 2-2 with 56 seconds remaining.

Entering Tuesday’s game, ex-Flyers forward Jeff Carter leads the team in overall scoring (17 points) and assists (10). Click Free Picks to get daily winners delivered directly to your inbox with no obligation!

In the 3-on-3, five-minute overtime, both teams had opportunities to win it. Mason denied Marian Gaborik’s backhander from close range. Even so, the 22-year-old could go a long way toward curing what’s ailing the Philadelphia Flyers ‘ blue line – namely, Mark Streit’s injury and Michael Del Zotto’s ineffectiveness.

“Mike is a great person and I think he’ll overcome these issues”, Luukko said. “Every kid who has ever played hockey wants to play in the NHL, let alone score a goal”.

Jonathan Quick #32 of the Los Angeles Kings pauses during the replay of a second period goal against the Philadelphia Flyers at the Wells Fargo Center on November 17, 2015 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Defensively, the Philadelphia Flyers are allowing 2.9 goals per game and are killing 76.2 percent of their power play chances. Ditto for Shayne Gostisbehere’s first career goal. The 27-year-old has scored in two of his last three contests and now has six goals and 13 points in 18 games. Officials ruled it was not a goal because of the kick.
