It’s now been confirmed that the two will reunite for a film set in the world of fashion during the 1950s, reteaming the Oscar-winning duo of Paul Thomas Anderson and Daniel Day-Lewis. Focus will distribute the film in the USA with Universal Pictures handling worldwide distribution. Whether this forthcoming collaboration, which is slated for release some time in 2017, could compare with There Will Be Blood is sure to earn skepticism from devotees of the ’07 film’s superlative status.
Universal will handle global territories for the Anderson movie, which is being produced by Anderson, JoAnne Sellar and Megan Ellison. The lauded actor has taken to working every few years, and Lincoln was only his second role since his previous Academy Award-worthy effort in Anderson’s There Will Be Blood.
Mr. Day-Lewis has also won the Best Actor Academy Award for his performances in Lincoln and My Left Foot, while Mr. Anderson has also received Academy Award nominations for his screenplays of Inherent Vice, Magnolia, and Boogie Nights, all of which he directed.
As we know, Daniel Day-Lewis is incredibly choosy about what films he does and who he works with, so if he’s signing on for this, odds are it’s going to be at least interesting.

“Amongst their contemporaries, Paul and Daniel truly represent the highest tier of artistry in film”, adds Megan Ellison of Annapurna Pictures, who is producing.
