Following Stabbing, Boston Hospital Criticizes State Policy

State police said a man stabbed two people at a Taunton home, then crashed a auto through the front of a Macy’s store at the Silver City Galleria and stabbed two other people at the mall.

Instead, Morton Hospital blamed the private company, Taunton/Attleboro Emergency Services, for leaving patients lingering in the emergency room for hours on Wednesday night.

Kathleen Slavin, 48, is now in stable condition at the intensive care unit of Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston.

Entering a house, DaRosa stabbed two people, including an 80-year-old woman who died and her adult daughter who was under treatment for life-threatening injuries in the hospital, Quinn said without identifying the women.

After the house incident, the assailant took a vehicle and crashed it into the front door of a Macy’s department store at the nearby Silver City Galleria Mall.

There, he assaulted three women inside the store, before going into Bertucci’s Pizza Restaurant, where he grabbed a knife and stabbed two others.

“On a personal level, understandably, I am proud of deputy Creed, his heroic actions and his ability to apply his professional training and restraint in an obviously traumatic and perilous situation”, Sheriff Joseph McDonald Jr. said.

“He reacted in a professional but heroic manner by taking the only course of conduct that was available to him at that time”, Quinn said, adding: “Thank God he reacted the way he did.”

Schwager says mental illness is a sensitive subject and that can often lead to further problems when family members don’t want to bring it up but a heightened awareness of your family or friends actions can make a difference.

The family of Arthur DaRosa says he was depressed and suicidal when he was admitted to the hospital Monday.

Authorities say 28-year-old Arthur DaRosa stabbed two women at a Taunton home Tuesday, killing one, then drove to the Silver City Galleria Mall. Bertucci’s waitress Sheenah Savoy was also stabbed.

“My husband was struggling with him to get the knife away”, she said.

DaRosa also beat three women in Macy’s, where an unidentified store employee tried to stop him.

DaRosa was near Myricks Street attending one of his children’s soccer practice before Tuesday evening’s violence began, Quinn said Wednesday.

DaRosa did not appear to know any of the victims, officials said.

George Heath, 56, a high school visual arts teacher, was stabbed trying to defend a waitress, and later died. She was med-flighted to Rhode Island Hospital.

“Morton Hospital extends our thoughts and prayers to the families of the victims of yesterday’s events”.

Authorities are trying to determine why a man went on a stabbing rampage in MA, killing two people and assaulting and stabbing more in a house and a shopping mall before being shot dead.

“We will do our own forensic investigation through our own police department as well to make sure our community is being properly served”, Hoye said.
