Following the Beta, Major Changes are Coming to Battlefield 1

In Battlefield 1, this changed: teams would gain points only by capturing and holding points, and the goal was to end up with more than the other team. In previous Battlefield games, the score would increase depending on the amount of flags you control and the amount of people you killed.

After collecting a whole bunch of feedback from the Battlefield 1 Open Beta, DICE have written up a short article talking about what will change between beta and release.

“When we build a new Battlefield game it’s important for us to try new things, we want to stay fresh and renew the franchise with each new installment”, Berlin writes.

Vehicle and weapon balances are also in-the-works, the developers see that light tanks are far too effective and horses seemingly absorb full magazines. “You have spoken, we have listened!” In terms of game modes, both Rush and Conquest are also receiving tweaks.

Berlin didn’t go into details on how Rush will be changing, but did say the DICE is looking to make the mode “the best Rush experience to date” and that fan feedback from the beta is serving as the backbone for changes. This will be addressed, as will the lack of tools available to deal with vehicles, which means a gadget for the Support class to help neutralise powerful vehicles.

In a post yesterday, Daniel Berlin, Lead World Designer on the game, noted that they are listening to feedback from players, and as a result of what the testing community has said, they’ll be changing the conquest mode so that both capturing objectives and scoring kills will count towards the final score of a match.
