Despite this fact, Grohl was a no-show at the award ceremony last night (20 September) and has since explained why he did not attend the show.

Dave Grohl’s anthem-rocking band was slated to perform at the conclusion of the 67th Primetime Emmy’s presentation last night – but Fox scratched them off the schedule.
That was until, as TMZ reported, that the Foo Fighters were denied their arranged performance at the 2015 Emmy awards.
TMZ says they’ve spoken with sources who claim the band was presented with a request from FOX to play half of a Sonic Highways cut and then move into “Learn To Fly”.
It is still unclear as to why the Emmys pulled their performance. When asked to clarify, he added: “I cannot tell you, do your research, yet they did”.
In a further statement given to Rolling Stone magazine, the group said: “The band and the Academy were extremely happy and excited to have Foo Fighters play as the first ever rock band on the Emmys”. The band didn’t want to play a medley, instead wanting to just do one full song, specifically from their nominated work.

When the band recently played in Anaheim, they invited Yes’ lead singer Jon Davison up on stage to perform with them. Apparently, the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences agreed by awarding the show two Emmys for Outstanding Sound Editing and Outstanding Sound Mixing.
