For Belichick, He’s Ready to Get Started On Preparing for 2016

No matter how Garoppolo does, New England head coach Bill Belichick said firmly during his camp-opening press conference on Wednesday that Tom Brady will resume his position into the starting quarterback as soon as his four-game suspension ends on October 3rd.

Brissett has been impressive since being selected in the third round of the 2016 NFL Draft. We haven’t seen him in real game action yet, but he has gotten quite a bit of practice reps under his belt over the last two years, and now that he is splitting reps with Brady as the starter, we can really start to see if he can shine under the lights. For now, the 24-year-old is done with one practice, and is ready for more.

While it could be just a byproduct of the role he now is in, Garoppolo found a more than normal gaggle of autograph seekers and people wearing his No. 10 jersey as he left the field Thursday.

“Jimmy understood mismatches and that type of stuff, which you don’t always see from a lot of young guys”, Lindley said. First, “Oh my God, just let it die, Goodell” and “We’re on the Jimmy G”. “We’ve got a great group, and it’s all helping each other and trying to get better each day”. Again, with a healthy Rob Gronkowski, the Patriots can go 4-0. Enter seventh-round pick Matt Cassel, who led the team to an 11-5 record that season and posted an 89.4 quarterback rating. “We’ve got a long way to go”. “You don’t get many opportunities in this league, you might only get one, so you’ve got to make the best of it”.

“This is a young man who picked things up very quickly, was very hard on himself and didn’t make the same mistake twice”, Babers said. “It’s really good, though, because throughout the season there are going to be injuries, you know things are going to happen, so you have to be able to play with whoever is in there with you”. But considering the Jets first six games – vs. Bengals, at Bills, at Chiefs, vs. Seahawks, at Steelers, at Cardinals – even the remote chance of having to start Geno Smith (or Bryce Petty, or rookie Christian Hackenberg) is a huge roll of the dice. And he took it out on his helmet Friday, slamming it to the turf – with ear pads exploding out upon impact – after the final snap of the 7-on-7 period at Patriots practice. Just two days into practice, and one day before the first day of work in full pads, there was a visible emotional edge exhibited by several players on the team.

“So, every year is different and the chemistry – each team is different”.
