For the Second Consecutive Day, BASIS.ed Schools Top 2016 National Rankings
Waterford High School is ranked No. 40 in Wisconsin in the U.S. News & World Report’s high school rankings released Tuesday.

The rankings are based on test scores, graduation rates and data from Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate exams.
They earned gold medal standings under the U.S. News system, meaning they are among the top 500 high schools in the nation in terms of college readiness.
The top three high schools in the state were Walt Whitman, Winston Churchill and Poolesville – all in Montgomery County. Schools also must be determined to be serving all of their students well.
The Vanguard School, a charter high school in Cheyenne Mountain School District 12, is sixth best in Colorado, down from second in 2015.
Thomas Jefferson ranked third a year ago, and fourth in 2014. And for the first time since 2007, when U.S. News began posting its annual survey online, schools also had to meet a minimum graduation rate, 68 percent. Brew Tech was one of 27 high schools in the state awarded Silver Medal status.

The list of top high schools is regularly dominated by magnet schools, elite vocational schools and special academies, all of which have selective enrollment.
Colorado’s top-ranking high school is Peak to Peak Charter School in Lafayette.
In total, 10 New Jersey high schools made the top 200 in the rankings, which considered about 20,000 schools. The school emphasizes science, technology, engineering and math (STEM).

City Schools Chancellor Carmen Fariña said she was happy to see students and teachers recognized for their success and hard work.
