Director J.J. Abrams told devotees they could expect a new trailer in the autumn, adding that one of his most important tasks was ensuring he did not let his love of the franchise interfere with the film-making. Abrams and co-writer Lawrence Kasdan were the first participants on stage. Aliens! Crashed ships! An emphasis on practical effects!
Well first of all we have had MTV surprise everyone with great news for all the Teen Wolf fans.
Yes, that is Simon Pegg – who worked with director JJ Abrams when playing Scottie in Star Trek- getting into a monster suit. “It’s storytelling 101. You can’t be blinded by [your feelings about the original trilogy]”. It was easily the most giddy I’ve ever seen the Hall H faithful behave. Everything changes in 2015. The reel also showed us Lupita Nyong’o with mo-cap equipment, as well as the characters played by Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, and Domhnall Gleeson. He worked the “Force Awakens” stand on the exhibition floor disguised in a storm trooper helmet.
“It’s such a personal story to everyone”, Hamill said.
Domhall Gleeson on whether his character is flat-out evil “He’s British, so yeah.” “I walked here so how bad can it be?” “And it makes it more relevant than ever.”
Carrie “Leia” Fisher similarly undercut the nostalgic mood, quipping about her return to the set: “They were right about the acid flashbacks”. He’s operated by five people, and Abrams said a lot of these creatures are just background creatures, but they give the actors in scenes things to respond to and interact with on set. “We have a cut of the movie… we’re working hard to make the movie more of what it wants to be”.
“Without you guys [the fans] we’re nothing,” Hamill exclaimed. During production Boyega took Harrison Ford to a Nigerian restaurant in East London, he said.
