Ford CEO: Donald Trump is wrong about Mexico
The Republican presidential nominee’s vow comes a day after he repeated his criticism of Ford, which plans to move its small-car production operations to Mexico.

On Thursday, Fields also emphasized that Ford made a commitment last fall to invest $9 billion in USA plants and create or retain more than 8,500 jobs as part of a new four-year contract with the UAW.
Ford expects the move will help the company make its production simpler and less expensive.
Ford said there will be zero job losses in the U.S.as a result of the new plant in Mexico.
When asked if the move of the Focus and C-Max from Michigan Assembly to Mexico would result in any US job losses, Fields responded, “Absolutely not”.
“It’s disgraceful that politicians let them get away with it.”
Trump has also said he would charge a 35 percent tax on any auto coming over the border. “And you know what’s gonna happen, they’re never going to leave”.
Donald Trump today called Ford Motor’s plan to relocate a small vehicle assembly plant to Mexico “disgraceful”, returning to the topic of the loss of manufacturing jobs that the candidate emphasized yesterday in a visit to Flint, Michigan.
He noted that the company has two products coming to its Michigan Assembly Plant in Wayne, where the outgoing Focus and C-Max cars are now built.
Today, Fields reiterated the automaker’s commitment to the UAW to keep that plant running.
“So not one job will be lost”, Fields said. The new Ford plant is expected to cost $1.6 billion to build.
Ford has more than 85,000 USA employees, compared to the 8,800 workers the company employs in Mexico.
The small cars Ford is shifting to Mexico are less popular and less profitable models. “We will be here forever”, said spokeswoman Christine Baker.
Asked if Ford would cut any U.S.jobs as part of its plans to build a new plant in Mexico, he responded; “Absolutely not”.
“When it comes to Ford, our commitment to creating and investing in jobs in the US has never been bigger”, Fields said.

“The announcement by Ford is really no surprise for the supply base”, says Charles Chesbrough, an economist with OESA, a supplier trade group. “We will continue to do that no matter who is in the White House”.
