Ford F-150 Raptor SuperCrew boosts space in sports truck

The best part is that performance is more enhance thanks to the six driving programs that are installed on the F-150 Raptor SuperCrew.

Under the hood is a 3.5-liter EcoBoost – shared with the new Ford GT, though with different tuning and an all-new 10-speed transmission.

In terms of horsepower, torque, 0-60 and quarter-mile times, fuel economy, and most importantly, pricing, we’ll have to wait a while longer until Dearborn’s ready to drip out that precious information. It did say that the engine is a version of the 600-plus-hp mill that will power the Ford GT.

The all-new F-150 Raptor starts with a purpose-built fully boxed frame – the backbone of the truck – that is the strongest in the F-150 lineup, featuring more high-strength steel than the outgoing Raptor.

Ford’s 2017 F-150 Raptor is coming with a SuperCrew cab, giving more cabin space than before. Other upgrades over the previous Raptor are dual exhausts and new 17-inch wheels with next-generation BFGoodrich All-Terrain KO2 tyres to give the Raptor stability and confidence during high-speed runs on rough terrain. It’s the first vehicle to use a new 10-speed transmission developed with General Motors.

Its new off-road technology, called the Terrain Management System, includes a number of modes that help drivers depending on their situation and include everything from “normal” mode to “mud and sand” and “rock”.

A Torsen front differential further increases off-road capability, as the system increases grip for the front end of the auto allowing it to pull itself over obstacles and up steep grades. Front and rear shock canisters have grown from 2.5 to 3 in in diameter for improved performance. They feature more suspension travel than the current Raptor’s 11.2 inches at the front and 12 inches at the rear.
