Ford Focus debuts with a classier look
The announcement coincided with the unveiling of the fourth-generation Focus in Europe, where it was billed as one of the brand’s most advanced mainstream cars to date.

The all-new, fourth-generation Ford Focus made its debut yesterday and already a couple of speculative renders have emerged showing the ST and RS hot hatches. All these ads freshness but the vehicle is still recognizable as a Focus.
The Focus has been one of the most popular cars sold in the United Kingdom in recent years.
The Ford Focus Mk4 will be offered in a number of bodystyles including a five-door hatchback, sedan, Active crossover with additional body cladding and 30 mm higher ground clearance, and a performance-oriented ST-Line version.
Ford revealed the new Focus 2018 range yesterday. The 2019 Focus is completely revamped with more style, new engines, an improved chassis and more features, like Ford CoPilot360. In practical terms, that translates into a longer hood and cab-rearward stance meant to enhance the line’s “on-road presence”.
Due to the vast popularity of the Focus and SUVs, the Active could become an incredibly popular vehicle for Ford.
Ford’s first Head-up display (HUD) to be offered in Europe, helping drivers focus their attention on the road ahead.
The Ford Focus has been one of the best-selling cars in the United Kingdom – consistently appearing in the top 10 new auto sales charts since its launch in 1998. There will be less orderable configurations, leading to reduced production costs and a less complex assembly process. Ford introduced sportier ST versions of the Focus in China, which will start exporting the model to the US beginning next year.
Any new tariffs shouldn’t impose restrictions on Ford’s venture with Changan, which manufactures cars in China for the local market, said He Chaobing, executive vice president at the unit. The all-new Focus has broken cover.
With the new-gen Focus, Ford has also introduced a couple of new safety systems including Adaptive Cruise Control, Adaptive Front Lighting System with new camera-based Predictive curve light, Active Park Assist 2 and Evasive Steering Assist. This allows Ford customers to turn the vehicle into a mobile WiFi hotspot with connectivity for up to 10 devices.
Among the items on board, depending on your choice, will be a FordPass Connect embedded modem for connectivity on the move, a wireless charging pad, SYNC 3 with 8ins touchscreen etc. Even the instrument panel positioning is optimized for getting in and out of the vehicle.
The 2019 Focus has more interior room thanks to a longer wheelbase, which provides more room for rear seat passengers.
On a wheelbase stretched by 53mm, rear knee room is now 50mm better and said to be the best in class, while shoulder room is also increased by nearly 60mm from the outgoing Focus.
The heating and air-conditioning system heats and cools the cabin faster and more quietly.
